Friday October 12th at Ft. Lauderdale Beach: Inaugural Zone-Ball Competition (Game invented by Carole Hokrein – MTO for FNA, and member of Easy Spirits Netball Club of Boynton Beach / Delray Beach) The wave of the future for the beaches of America is Zoneball; the all –inclusive, Hip-Hop version of other ball sports, with court divisions and rules adapted for the sands, the sun and the sea. Gear to wear? Zoneball shorts and sleeveless active wear tops. Winner: NCB – Jamaica 2nd Place Sparkles Sports Club – Lauderdale Lakes MVP Jadie Soutar Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th @ Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs Drive. National Anthem was sung by Kadiane Whyte (Junior Netballer) – Sparkles Netball Club Participating teams: Grand Cayman Islands - Rising Stars - Storm Jamaica - NCB - CVM - ISSA - Heart Trust - JPS - UWI - Mobile Reserve – Area 8 - Area 7 - RBTT - Guardian Life - Ministry of Health Florida - Allroundaz - Challengers - Sparkles - Tropical Nets - Goldstars Juniors (All Florida) - Florida Combined - Saints – Lauderdale Lakes - Lauderhill Angels – Lauderhill TOURNAMENT RESULT Florida Classic Division 1st UWI - Jamaica 2nd Tropical Nets - Florida 3rd RBTT - Jamaica _________ 4th Area 7 - Jamaica 5th Sparkles - Florida In a hard fought game between UWI of Jamaica and The Tropical Nets of Florida, UWI prevailed. In a short-format match, comprised of two 6-minute halves, Nets took the lead 6-4 at the end of the first half. The action was fast and furious. In the second half, UWI drew to a tie at 10. With UWI leading by one goal at 11-10, Nets GS Georgina Hibbert went down with an injury, forcing her to retire from the game, with 45 seconds left and UWI in possession of the ball. They scored on that possession and had the final center pass on which they scored to finish the game with 13 points to Nets’ 10. Plate Division 1st CVM – Jamaica 2nd JPS – Jamaica 3rd Ministry of Health – Jamaica 4th Lauderhill Angels - Florida Junior Competition U16 Lauderhill Angels – Florida U19 1st Lauderhill Angels – Florida 2nd Florida Combined – Florida 3rd Saints – Florida Lauderhill Angels swept the Junior Division and entered the Plate Division where they finished fourth.
